Why Eid is celebrated

Completion of fasting

During Ramadan , Muslims fast from dawn to sunset for about 29-30 days.Eid celebrates the successful completion of these fasts.

Thanking God

Muslims thanks Allah for giving them strength patience and blessings during the fasting month.

Helping the poor

Before the Eid prayer Muslims give charity called Zakat Fitr so that everyone including poor people can celebrate Eid.

Prayer and Celebration

On Eid morning , Muslims gather for a special Eid prayer,meet family and friends share sweets,and say “Eid Mubarak”. The celebration was established in the time of Muhammad who taughts Muslims to celebrate the end of Ramadan with prayers , gratitude and charity.

Eid al-Fitr many special dishes are cooked to celebrate the end of Ramadan. Families prepare sweet and Savory foods, and share them with relatives and guests.

Sher Khurma

  • A Sweet dessert made with milk vermicelli dates, suger and dry fruits.
  • It is one of the most famous Eid dishes in India and Pakistan.

Biryani

  • A flavorful rice dish cooked with spices meat, chicken or mutton and sometimes vegetables.

kebab

  • Grilled or fried minced meat with spices often served as snaks for guests.

Haleem

  • A thick dish made with wheat lentils and meat cooked slowly with spices.

Samosa

  • Fried pastry filled with potatoes ,meat or vegetables usually served as a snack .

korma

  • A made with meat, yogurt and aromatic spices. People cook sweet dishes,rice dishes and meat dishes to celebrate and share with family and friends.
