Kullu Dussehra Fair(Valley of Gods)

Kullu dashara is an international Dussehra festival celebrate in the Kullu Valley Himachal Pradesh and distinguished from other Dussehra celebration by the absence of the burning of Ravan.This festival is celebrated with the religions fervor and culture traditions with processions featuring thousands of local deities.

Timing- October to November month

Event –

The festival begins with Rath Yatra of lord Raghu nath and is celebrated by taking out a procession carrying idols of local deities in decorated palanquins unlike other Dussehra celebrations there is no burning of Ravana effigy in kullu instead the festivities focal on processions of deities and local cultural events. Mandi Shivratri fair (Chhoti Kashi)

The Shivratri fair of Himachal Pradesh known as the international Shivratri fair of Mandi is a major seven day festival held in town of Mandi beginning on the shivaratri festival. Hundreds of deities from Mandi and surrounding areas are bought in colourful palanquins and fair is renowned for its traditions, cultural program and the reunion of gods and goddesses.

The fair begins with prayers at the Bhoothnath temple and the palanquin of Rajdev Madhav Rai Gods and Goddesses are bought to Mandi more than 81 temples of the district which are brought by devotees in palanquins.

Dance, music and games are organised during the day while in the evening these are performances by Bollywood and Punjabi artistes.

Historical significance

The tradition originated with king and is a confluence of Shiva Vaishnava and folk deities Mandi is also called Chhoti Kashi which is compered to Varansi.

Minjar Mela Chamba (mini Switzerland)

Minjar Mela in Chamba Himachal Pradesh which is held a week. The fair include culture programs processions, sporting event and a chance of local handicraft like Chamba rumal and Chamba chappal.

The fair includes rituals to honor the rain God , Varun for a prosperous harvest with people Sacrificing silk tassels to the Ravi raver. You can traditional handicrafts such as embroidered Chamba rumal, woollen shawls.

Lavi fair (Rampur ) Shimla

lavi Mela is annual trade for and culture fair held in Rampur , Bushahr, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. You can visit the fair by travelling to Rampur Bushahr where you can see a mix of commercial trade and cultural event Natti dance. It takes place on the banks of the Sutlej river.
